Gas Price Review - Week Ending May 15, 2005

We Are back after a month's break. We have been trying to sort out problems getting the prices updated. Although not quite resolved we have decided to start up again and push forward. Thank you for you support but we really need you to submit your prices regularly.

Prices continue to fall and we have seen some of the lowest gas prices over the last month. This is as Oil Prices drift around the US $50 a barrel mark. This is good news now but as the summer months approach look for the prices to creep north again.

This week we look at the diesel prices. Diesel is being touted as the way o go in Jamaica. The price for diesel based on data available at the time of this article ranged from $38.36 to $40.89 a litre. This is a spread of over 2.50 per litre of diesel. Getting a diesel vehichle is a good choice as it burns fuel better, giving better mileage. The downside is that there are environmental questions still unanswered.

Another point of interest is the fact that many gas stations continue to refuse to display their prices as required by the code of conduct. This is another sign of lawlessness in Jamaica where no one bothers to obey anything as the impositions of penalties hardly happen and the penalties are just too low. Jamaica Gas Prices encourage you to use service stations that display their prices and ignore those that don't. Observation thus far shows that stations that fail to display their signs usually sell petrol at a higher prices than those who do. We will be looking closer at this so look out for that report.

As the prices continue to remain high, consumers will have to shop wisely by watching and contribute to www.jamaicagasprices.com.jm. This week plan your gas purchase and fill up at a best prices near you.
