Gas Price Review - Week Ending April 9, 2005

There was no letting up this week. Petrol Prices in Jamaica know only one direction and it is up. If one thing that has happen since the Iraq war is that Oil prices have gone out of Control. This week however oil prices fell from last week's record highs of $58 to $54. That is good news for prices at the pump next week hopefully

Last week our summary looked at 87 Octane, this week we look at 90 Octane. Based on information reaching us, the lowest gas prices continue to be in the Cross Road area, with three Gas Stations Petcom, Esso, Total, Unipet having the lowest prices for 90 Octane, The prices range from $43.15 to $48.70 per litre. The highest gas price are to be found in the Barbican area

The motoring public in Jamaica are feeling the effect of the higher gas prices and some stations with lower gas prices e.g. Total (Heroes Circle) Esso(WorldTron) are showing long lines at peak hours of users waiting to fill up.

The average prices of 90 Octane was the time of writing $46.57 of data on 26 stations.

An interesting article appeared on the Jamaica Star Online entitled Cheap Gas at Bogus Pumps. Be careful where you buy petrol. This article points the problems arising due to the high pertrol prices in Jamaica. Also of interest is a report in the Jamaica Gleaner where it states that Shell is sell its Jamaica Operations.
